DESCRIPTION:Ready for a Screen Time Win? Bay Area Families Invited to Explore Nature—Through Augmented Reality!\nFree AR Game Gets Kids Off the Couch and Into Local Parks\, Transit Stations\, and Museums \nTired of seeing your kids glued to screens all summer? The Bay Area Explorer Campaign is here to help—and yes\, it still uses a screen. But this time\, it’s getting your family outside\, moving\, and learning together. \nFrom August 1 to September 7\, 2025\, dozens of local parks and public spaces across the Bay Area are turning into interactive learning zones—like Pokémon Go\, but with an educational twist! The free Agents of Discovery® app offers fun “Missions” that encourage kids to explore topics like wildlife\, science\, history\, and transportation—right in their own backyard. \nParticipating spots include:\nU.S. Fish and Wildlife – Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge\nSanta Clara County Parks\nBay Area Rapid Transit (BART)\nCity of San Jose\,\nCity of Morgan Hill\nCity of San Carlos\nSacramento County Regional Parks\nCalifornia State Parks – Seacliff State Beach\nOakland International Airport\nNational Park Service at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. \n“This is a great way to engage families in nature if they enjoy using technology. Much healthier than playing video games at home!” said one Agents of Discovery user. \nAnd here’s the bonus: every Mission your child completes enters them in a prize draw—the more they play\, the better their chances! \nHow to Play:\nDownload the Agents of Discovery app (free!)\nSearch for Missions near you and download them before you go\nHead out and start exploring—no internet or data required! \nWhether you’re hopping on BART\, headed to the beach\, or visiting your local park\, there’s a Mission waiting. It’s a win for physical activity\, a win for learning\, and a win for family bonding. \nSanta Clara County Parks and Recreation Staff say\, “We are excited to be able to allow our visitors a new and different way to engage with and explore our parks using Agents of Discovery. Park visitors have really had fun with the AR components of the app.” \nLearn more and find a Mission near you: www.agentsofdiscovery.com

SUMMARY:30TH ANNUAL GREAT GLASS PUMPKIN PATCH RETURNS TO PALO ALTO
DESCRIPTION:Who doesn’t love a pumpkin patch – especially one made entirely of hand-crafted glass? \nThe 30th Annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch returns to the Palo Alto Art Center on Saturday and Sunday\, September 27–28\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The popular Bay Area event – California’s largest glass pumpkin patch – is free and open to the public and features more than 10\,000 hand-blown and sculpted glass pumpkins\, gourds\, and autumnal treasures. \nFor over 30 years\, the Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI)\, and the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation\, have partnered to produce this vibrant celebration of art and fall festivity. Each glass pumpkin is a one-of-a-kind piece created by more than 22 local and regional artists\, who spend months designing\, blowing\, and shaping pumpkins of all sizes\, shapes\, and hues – from whimsical to elegant\, tiny to gigantic. \nLive glass-blowing demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend and give attendees a close-up look at the mesmerizing art of glassmaking. Visitors can also meet the artists\, learn about their creative process\, and purchase their favorite pumpkins to take home. \nOaxacan Kitchen Mobile and Mr Softee will also be on hand serving their tasty eats and treats.
