Caregiver, Advocate, Storyteller
Bhavika Taunk is an East Bay mom, writer, and passionate advocate for children with complex medical and educational needs. Her older son, Kabir, is a three-time leukemia survivor who continues to live with chronic complications from years of treatment. Her younger son, Ayaan, lives with OCD and has experienced school-based bullying—challenges that have deepened Bhavika’s commitment to disability rights and inclusion advocacy.
Through her writing, Bhavika shares the unfiltered realities of caregiving, medical trauma, and the ongoing fight for support systems that can serve all children. She believes storytelling can be a force for change—and a lifeline for parents walking similar paths. She is endlessly grateful for the love, messages, and solidarity from the pediatric cancer and broader local communities, which remind her family they’re not alone.
Bhavika lives in Danville with her husband Mandeep, their two sons, and their dogs—Hachi the Keeshond and Mochi the Boston Terrier. She also runs a small family tea business, Birdsong Tea, and finds calm in the ritual of a warm cup. Her family is currently fundraising to help cover out-of-pocket medical costs and long-term care: Support Kabir.
