Bay Day is an official holiday that unites Bay Area communities to celebrate San Francisco Bay, its people and wildlife. This regional celebration takes place on the first Saturday of October each year, and this year, Save The Bay wants to inspire the Bay Hero in everyone. Bay Day 2018 will encourage everyone to be a Bay Hero whether they DIG in for the bay at a volunteer event, VOTE for the Bay in November or DONATE to Save The Bay. Bay Day is like Earth Day for the Bay – an opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty and diversity of our Bay.
Let BayDay.org be your lively guide to more than 50 events happening across the region. One of our favorites this year is the Palo Alto Baylands Restoration Festival, a walk-in event from 10 am – 3 pm at the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve. You and your kids will love getting your hands dirty removing invasive plants and transplanting native seedlings, or take an interactive nursery tour and partake in a nature walk.
Reward your hard work with local craft beer and food trucks. The kids will love the face painting booth and educational art activities where they’ll turn plastic trash into works of art!
