Let Your Kids “Thryve” With Probiotics

When I was younger, I had an intense interest in microbiology.  I am embarrassed to say I read books about bacteria and viruses in my free time and had screensaver images of multiplying bacteria.  I was so “obsessed” that finally my boyfriend (now husband) sat me down sophomore year of college and said, “Kel, I think you should take a microbiology class.  This isn’t normal.”  Haha.  He was right. I was interested far more than a normal hobby, and with a little extra courage given to me from my husband that day, I made the leap and changed my major.  I eventually ended up with a BS in Microbiology and Cell Science and a MS in Medical Sciences.  Ha.

I will never forget my first day, my first microbiology class.  My professor said, “If you don’t take anything else away from this course, take away this: Let your children play in the dirt!”

The reason why this is so important is that most of the bacteria around us actually keep us safe.  Ed Young writes about this in his new book, I Contain Multitudes (if you are like me and love this stuff, you should read this book!).  He states “The immune system isn’t just a means of controlling microbes.  It is at least partly controlled by microbes.”

Ok, so why I am talking about all of this today on a moms blog?

Because there are ways to improve your health and your baby’s health using information we know about the microbes in our gut.

Enter Thryve, a company started to discover the wonders of the microbiome and the role bacteria plays in you and your baby.

“Thryve helps people learn about the microbes inside their body to improve health. They offer a monthly subscription that includes microbiome testing and patented probiotics. Thryve uses 16s rRNA sequencing on the v3-v5 strands of bacteria to gain species level accuracy in the gut. Thryve has partnered with one of the world’s leading probiotic research and manufacturing companies to co-develop their proprietary 100B CFU and 15 strain probiotic that have shown in studies to improve gastrointestinal health, immune support, and many more.”

What does this mean?  Thryve can take the information from your gut test and provide you with the knowledge to improve your gut health based on personalized nutrition and high quality supplements.

Richard Lin, CEO of Thryve states,

Turns out science has been making some amazing discovering about the connection between our health and the microbes inside our body. Research have shown correlations between the microbiome and diseases such as Autism, Asthma, Eczema, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Obesity, and many more. Although evidence at the moment are correlative and not causation yet, the preliminary data is super exciting.

Thus, I started Thryve with the belief that better health begins with accessible microbiome sequencing and properly sourced probiotics.”

Thryve offers monthly probiotic subscriptions delivered on ice for cell stability and Gut Health Tests for quarterly check ups on your ever-changing microbiome.
