From Helpless to Hopeful
When my daughter was born in the thick of COVID, I felt helpless. The world was chaotic, the information overwhelming, and like so many new moms, I was just trying to survive one day at a time.
Then came the car seat. And the stroller. And the endless baby gear that needed care, and I realized I had no idea how to safely clean any of it. That moment sent me down a deep rabbit hole that would completely change my life.
I became obsessed with baby gear safety and car seat safety, determined to understand the right way to care for the tools that protected my new baby. I learned how fragile these systems can be, how easily safety can be compromised by the wrong cleaning method, and how much misinformation is out there.
It was eye-opening, and infuriating.
Because as I scrolled through social media, I saw video after video promoting “baby gear cleaning hacks” that were dangerously wrong. Steamers, vinegar, upholstery extractors, bleach, power washers, all aimed at new parents who just wanted to do the right thing. These unsafe shortcuts were being marketed to Bay Area moms, caregivers, and families everywhere. That’s when I knew I wanted to do something about it.
A New Chapter in Motherhood
Fast-forward to August 2023, when our family grew again, and we welcomed our son. Suddenly, I was a mom of two young kids, a full-time working mom balancing meetings, nap schedules, and snack negotiations.
I might have felt like a “seasoned” parent, but motherhood is humbling; you’re always learning. The one thing I did feel 100 percent confident about, though? How to properly and safely clean and install a car seat.
I knew the manufacturer’s guidelines. I knew what was safe, what wasn’t, and most importantly, why it mattered.
Still, I was trying to figure out how to supplement my income without sacrificing my sanity. Life was “life-ing,” as they say, and with two little ones, time felt like my rarest resource.
The Lightbulb Moment
Then one night, it hit me.
Car seat cleaning. Stroller cleaning. BABY GEAR CLEANING.
It was something I could do after my kids went to bed. Something I could pour my heart into. Something that could combine my love for baby safety, my need for flexibility, and my desire to help other overwhelmed parents in the Bay Area.
So I started small.
We offered free cleanings at my kids’ preschool in exchange for honest reviews and referrals. It wasn’t glamorous, just me, some gear, and a determination to get it right. But word spread fast. Parents were thrilled to find a service that was both convenient and safe.
That’s when Bubble Tot Cleaning was officially born.
Building Trust Through Education and Certification
As our business grew, we wanted to go beyond cleaning. We wanted to build trust, and make a difference. So we became Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs).
That certification means we can not only clean gear but also educate families about car seat safety, proper installations, and safe usage. We now offer personalized CPST services, safety checks, and hands-on education for Bay Area moms and caregivers who want to feel confident every time they buckle their little ones in.
Every car seat cleaning, stroller cleaning, or full-service baby gear cleaning follows manufacturer guidelines and uses non-toxic, child-safe products. And because we’re licensed and insured, you can rest easy knowing your gear is handled by professionals who care about safety first.
