Genevieve

Contributing Writer

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Genevieve attended Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, to earn her BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in psychology. It was beautiful in the Pacific Northwest, but she eagerly returned to California after completing her studies and student teaching. Originally from the east bay, she moved to the Peninsula in 2004 and has fallen in love with the area coined, “Climate best by government test.” She met her husband, a teacher as well, through a serendipitous flight to New York. They celebrated their ten year anniversary with Elvis and four other families while on an RV excursion visiting National Parks during spring break of 2017. For the past 21 years, she has taught in Malawi, Africa (before Madonna put the country on the map by adopting David), and in the elementary and middle school settings in California. Becoming a parent of school-aged children (2nd and K) humbled and changed her in many ways, but especially as a teacher. She has a passion for healthy and communicative partnerships between teachers and parents, thrives when she has the time to be creative with her hands and loves to laugh with her family.
