Mommy-Get-Away: Westin Sacramento with Pauline Li and Olga Rosales Salinas

The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa recently underwent a redesign by Wilson Ishihara Design, and their gorgeous lobby lounge area now includes a new wine on tap counter, water refill stations, a living wall, and a local artisan shop.

I recently enjoyed a much-needed mommy getaway with my friend and yours, SFBAM’s Mommy-in-Chief Pauline Li, at the Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa – the upscale, contemporary hotel nestled along the historic Sacramento River.

It was an absolutely necessary and rejuvenating experience!

From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and a level of service that set a positive tone for our stay. The lobby was beautifully designed with me in mind—a wine-vending machine on tap, featuring unlimited wine on tap from neighboring wineries in the Delta, Clarksburg, and Napa Valley.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Nothing beats the Westin’s Heavenly® bedding. Be ready to sleep like a baby (or the baby’s daddy).

Once we got to our rooms, we discovered the thoughtfully renovated rooms were luxe and spacious! They feature comfortable beds that feel like clouds after a scenic drive from the Bay Area. Each bathroom was equipped with a free-standing soaking tub and divine-smelling salts ready to be used. The views overlooking the river added to the serene atmosphere. We spent our mornings enjoying coffee on the terrace, soaking in nature’s peaceful sights and sounds, with a splattering of party boats. Fun!

If you follow me on social media, you know that I live for a well-designed hotel gym. The WestinWORKOUT gym was the perfect size, not too big or small, and the perfect balance of cardio and weightlifting equipment. Are you obsessed with hotel gyms? No? Just me? Pauline loved the towel fridge.

Ok, but this hotel gym faces the hotel pool. It was motivational.

Mommy-Get-Away: The Westin Sacramento

Speaking of the hotel amenities, Pauline and I enjoyed a well-deserved pampering at the spa at Spa La Le. Before a relaxing aromatherapy massage, we lounged in the meditation room by the sauna with a glass of champagne and had the best heart-to-heart talk.

The Westin Sacramento’s location by the river provided the perfect backdrop for a mommy getaway, including hitting the pillow by 9 pm without putting anyone to bed. For dinner, we went to the on-site restaurant, Scott’s Seafood. It was absolutely delicious! We found the area peaceful and perfect for reconnecting with nature and each other without the usual distractions of daily life – like kids. Speaking of kids, the hotel is also conveniently located near popular area attractions such as Old Sacramento, the Sacramento Zoo, and Golden 1 Center – making it a great option to be considered for the more dynamic family getaways to the Capital as well.

Debuting this spring, the hotel’s private marina will allow guests to host events, experience movie nights under the stars, enjoy exclusive tastings and more. The marina will also be open for guests along the river to dock their boats while visiting the property, whether for the day or overnight.

Scott’s Seafood on the River must-try: octopus legs, salads, and any surf & turf combos.

Overall, our experience at the Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa was just what I needed—a mix of relaxation, beautiful surroundings, and quality time with SFBAM’s very own baddie, Pauline. At this destination, we can truly revel in upscale comfort and holistic wellness, from the 24-hour WestinWORKOUT fitness center, to pampering ourselves at Spa LaLe, and savoring sustainable seafood and fresh fare at Scott’s Seafood on the River. I would recommend this hotel to any mom (or group of girlfriends!) looking for a peaceful getaway. We left feeling recharged and ready to tackle our busy lives (and scheduling our next stay) again!
