A Day at Mountain Camp Marin

Each day at Mountain Camp Marin, we create moments that matter. Camp days are packed with activities that build life skills and near-peer mentors (our awesome counselor staff) who are invested in the growth of every child. Campers can unleash their creativity at Creation Station, practice persistence at Archery, challenge themselves physically at Pickleball and Capture The Flag, or dive into imaginative worlds with LARPing (Live Action Role-Playing).

For the little ones, our Cub Camp program (ages 5–6) visits each activity area on campus, adjusting these activities and teaching them in a supportive environment, making it the perfect introduction to summer camp.

Throughout our camper-chosen Elective Schedule, kids enjoy a blend of independence and guidance, allowing them to explore their interests, make new friends, and create lifelong memories.

Why Choose Mountain Camp Marin?

At Mountain Camp Marin, we believe camp is a vital educational experience that all kids should enjoy. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • A Community That Cares: We bring an overnight camp’s tight-knit community feel and deliver it in a day camp model. Our spirited camp rallies, small-group-based program, and child-directed schedule create an atmosphere where campers forge deep connections.
  • Growth-Focused Programming: From our skill-based Badging Program to workshops in science, nature, dance, and cooking, campers develop critical 21st-century skills like resilience, collaboration, and empathy.
  • Stellar Staff: We partner with licensed social workers, child psychologists, DEI experts, and outdoor educators to provide our staff with EXTENSIVE training before each summer. MCM requires 25+ hours of on-site training for every counselor and maintains a staff ratio of 3:1, leading the day camp industry.

Exclusive Leadership Programs for Middle and High Schoolers

Mountain Camp Marin goes above and beyond with special programs for our eldest campers, ensuring day camp remains engaging and fun for all:

Campers in Leadership Training (CILT): Middle school-aged campers (Alpiners) can opt into this elective, developing leadership and teamwork skills through workshops and situational practice as they lead younger camper groups.

Junior Staff in Training (JSIT): Designed for teens entering 9th or 10th grade, this volunteer program comprises a central component of our staff team, offering participants professional development, real-world responsibility, and community service hours. Applicants must complete a two-round interview process before joining the team. JSITs have the inside track to becoming paid counselors the following year.
