Happy June, Mommies! Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! When I think of summers past, the month of June always seems to kick it off. Cherries, peaches, and other stone fruits are in season. With warmer afternoons, all I want to do is drink Rosé and eat foods that require minimal cooking. This month, I am kicking off my summer travel with my first trip to Boston. In preparation for my maiden voyage to this historic city, I have bookmarked a few key places I want to visit. Here are just a few of my food and sightseeing finds:
Finds:
This Sunday, I am heading to Beantown for my second work trip of the year. It’s first time visiting the city, and I have done my homework, bookmarking several places to eat and see. When I am not meeting with clients, I will be diving into local eats, like Flour Bakery for their famous sticky buns and Parker’s Restaurant for their Boston Cream Pie. During the day, I should be able to squeeze in lunch and a little shopping at Boston Public Market. As a baseball fan, no trip to Boston would be complete without a stop at Fenway. Yes, the Red Sox are playing at home when I am in town! If I have the time, I definitely want to walk the Freedom Trail and visit a few Catholic churches.

Faves:
When I am not traveling for work or fun, I love to cook and bake. Speaking of eating foods with minimal cooking, my current favorite side dish to make is a Smashed Cucumber salad. I am loving this salad as a side dish for every meal. Change up the vinegar and spices, and the dish changes too. This weekend, I am adding crumbled feta cheese, mint and Aleppo pepper flakes to it. Delicious and bright!
We also plan to visit our favorite playground: Raymond Kimbell Playground. We love this playground. It’s perfect for toddlers like my daughter, Ilse, and littler ones, who aren’t ready for the larger equipment at Lafayette Park. They also have tables for picnics. If you’re going to picnic at the playground, you can pick up a few sandwiches and treats at the fabulous Jane the Bakery right across the street from it. We love their huge cookies, bostock, and savory scones. I’m told they make a stellar avocado toast, too.
Happy eating friends!
