This past Sunday, Blix Bikes held a test drive for their newest e-cargo bike, the Packa, at Nealon Park, in Menlo Park. Almost a dozen people came out to ride the awesome new bike, which is in pre-sale mode and expected to hit the streets in mid-June.
The Packa is the first cargo bike from the Santa Cruz based Blix Bikes. It can carry two children (up to 150 lbs) in the back and 50 lbs of cargo in the front. The seats are totally interchangeable and quickly shifted between child seat and cargo load.
Blix does not sell the child seats, but they recommend Yepp seats, which are available on Amazon. Other seats will also fit but may need an adaptor. This bike can also grow with your children. Once they get older, change out the child seats for seat pads and rails that your children hold onto.

It has an extremely easy to read and user-friendly digital interface, which allows you to put the bike in walk-mode and also turn off your front and rear lights with just a touch. It also includes a USB port so you can charge your phone while riding.
The bike can go up to 20 MPH and has five levels of e-assistance so you can customize how much help you want pedaling. The bike also comes with two batteries, totaling a range of 70 miles between charges, which makes this a great option for commuters. Should you want to go old school and forgo the e-assist, it does have a traditional 7-speed gear.
