Nothing says, “Autumn is here,” like going pumpkin picking with your family, so here’s your guide to the best pumpkin patches in San Francisco, Marin, the East Bay, and the Peninsula and South Bay. Remember to bring cash with you to pay for your pumpkins and buy tickets to the attractions. While many places accept credit cards, others are cash only.
Don’t forget to check out our community calendar of events happening around the city in October. Lots of Halloween-themed things to do, and you can even add your own public events to the calendar. Plus, we’ve mapped out the trick-or-treating hot spots around the city.

SAN FRANCISCO
Clancy’s Pumpkin Patch

For when you want to give your kids the pumpkin patch experience, but don’t feel like leaving the city, Clancy’s, in the Inner Sunset, is the place to go. It was the city’s first pumpkin patch in 1979, and they’re still going strong. Pick out your family pumpkins and try out the hayride around the patch. Free parking makes this spot extra convenient.
Pomeroy Pumpkin Patch

The Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center will have pumpkins, snacks, games and activities, including a haunted house. All proceeds benefit people with Developmental Disabilities and all activities are wheelchair accessible.
Halloween Hoopla

Yerba Buena Gardens
The Halloween Hoopla features interactive performances and games for kids under 10 and their adults and the return of the Yerba Buena Pumpkin Patch! The program features live music, performances and craft activities. Compete in the annual Mummy Wrap and more games. Remember to bring your camera for the Hoopla Photo Booth! The program culminates in the eagerly awaited Halloween Costume Parade, where everyone is welcome to show off their Halloween finery.
MARIN
Nicasio Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch

After you pick out your certified organic pumpkins stay for the hay rides, farm animals, pony rides, bounce house, and giant inflatable slide. Tasty treats, including a farm stand and Big Jim’s award-winning BBQ and ice cream will be for sale on the weekends, as will special musical performances.
Organic Pumpkin Patch at Marin Country Mart

Two pumpkin patch locations will be set up throughout October. One is in front of Three Twins Ice Cream, and the other is near the Marin Country Mart Trading Post. Bring cash for your pumpkins. You’ll buy your pumpkins on the honor system, putting your money in the payment boxes located at each patch.
Godmothers of Timothy Murphy School Pumpkin Patch

The annual pumpkin patch at St. Vincent’s (Marinwood) is back with bounce houses, face painting, a hay pile and other activities. Bring lunch to picnic or buy something at their snack shack.
Ian’s Lazy Days Pumpkin Patch at Terra Kids Outdoor

You can’t miss spotting the pumpkin patch and bounce house that pops up at the Terra Kids play structure store every October as you drive up 101N.
Kevin’s Strawberry Villa Pumpkin Patch

The inflatable space shuttle slide is the big attraction at this annual pumpkin patch.
EAST BAY
Speer Family Farms

This family owned and operated pumpkin patch sources all of its pumpkins from local farmers. They also have fun attractions ranging from a 4 story ship slide, petting zoo, jumpy houses, kid play areas, mazes for your family’s enjoyment. The patch was previously set up in Emeryville and has moved to Alameda.
Clayton Valley Pumpkin Farm

Clayton offers a full day of family fun. The Pumpkin Playland contains a giant tunnel of straw, 3 giant pots filled with lima beans, a Farmer’s Phonebooth, “Ball Return,” and more! Little Carver’s Barnyard is a play area with the popular Duck Races (use an old-fashioned water pump to push your duck from one side to the other), Ball Launcher, bowling, and the Barn Ball Toss. There’s also face painting, farm animals, train rides, food and drinks, and contests!

J.E. Perry Farms
At the time of publishing, we could not confirm whether Perry Farms was holding special Halloween activities this year, but since they have been a staple of pumpkin picking for years, we didn’t want to leave them off the list – just in case. J.E. Perry Farms is a working vegetable farm and pumpkins are one of many crops grown on the farm this time of year. Come out and see a real working farm and search for the perfect pumpkin.
