I come from a long line of hardworking, selfless mothers, mothers who put dinner on the table and worked full-time, day in and day out. These same mothers have been my biggest cheerleaders and my greatest inspiration for being a mother and a woman. Their words of wisdom have followed me and continue to shape and inspire me. Last year, I wrote a love letter to our mothers in compilation with our fellow writers. This year, I want to focus on those meaningful words of wisdom and share them with all of you. What follows is a list of some of those wise sayings. For all you who have been and are motherly figures, your children have listened and are continuing to learn from you.
Happy Mother’s Day! We love you!

Don’t knock it until you try it.
Don’t rely on a man for money; make your own.
Be present.
Pray.
Do your best.
Cook/bake for more than you need.
Everything in moderation.
Don’t give into peer pressure.
A ‘C’ is passing.
You can do anything you put your mind to.
Pick a partner that you don’t need but rather that you WANT to spend the rest of your life with.
A few good friends is better than a lot of acquaintances.
A 10- minute power nap can solve almost all your problems.
Marry someone that loved me more than they loved themselves and that I loved more than myself.
