We are very excited to partner with Save The Bay to help you and your family celebrate Bay Day, Saturday October 7th. We are so fortunate to live in the San Francisco Bay Area surrounded by beautiful and unique ecological wonders. So, grab the kiddos and celebrate!
On Bay Day, you can:
- Attend one of four exciting Save The Bay Anchor Events! Our local Mid-Peninsula event is in Redwood City at Port Fest. There will be boat rides, a kids zone, music and MORE.
- Get your hands dirty at one of our four Wetland Restoration Events. There are local ones in both Redwood City and Palo Alto!
- Find a Community Partner program near you!
OR
Create your own Bay Day using the My Bay Day online adventure guide!
Choose one or more of our 5 senses to explore with your kids:
SEE the Bay: Get out there and see the beautiful Bay. Show your children the coastline and roaring waves. Visit here to discover five bay area hikes with spectacular Bay views!
HEAR the Bay: Take a moment and let your kids eavesdrop on nature- the birds, the breeze, and the mammals. Visit here to learn about San Francisco Bay Trail audio tours and to find suggested tours.
TOUCH the Bay: Get your hands dirty. Kids love dirt! Plant blooms in your backyard or volunteer to sow plants, pick up trash, or remove weeds on our shorelines. Visit here to learn more. Don’t forget you can take a dip in the water too! Let those little toes feel the chilly waters that surround us!
TASTE the Bay: This doesn’t need much explanation! We have wonderful restaurants featuring local seafood in the Bay Area! Celebrate by enjoying a family meal together or maybe by making dinner together. Visit here for a local Sea Bean recipe and for restaurant suggestions!
SMELL the Bay: Breathe the native scents with your kids. Make a scent station at home or go on a smelling scavenger hunt! “Whose SCAT is that?” Scat is the scientific word for “you know what,” and we all know kids love anything that has to do with poop! Visit here for a printable Poop Patrol guide!
However you spend celebrating Bay Day, we want to see. Please use #MPMBBayDay to possibly be featured on our Instagram account!
