Real Stories, Real Families: Bay Area Families Wanted for No Kid Hungry’s New Campaign

A guest post from Jordan Shively, founder of All of Us Casting.

All of Us Casting is partnering with No Kid Hungry on a documentary-style media campaign to spread awareness about SNAP / CalFresh benefits and the actual families that use them.

We’re looking for San Francisco Bay Area families who currently use SNAP / CalFresh to share their stories on camera.

Why this matters

Federal SNAP cuts are happening now. Across the country, millions of families rely on this program to keep food on the table. And yet the public picture of who uses SNAP rarely matches the reality.

No Kid Hungry wants to change that. They’re spotlighting real families to push back on stereotypes about who relies on the program and to remind people what’s actually at stake when this safety net is on the chopping block.

Who we’re hoping to hear from

Bay Area families currently using SNAP / CalFresh. That’s the only requirement. Any background, any family structure — single parents, multigenerational households, working couples, grandparents raising grandkids, families starting over, families building up. If you’re part of one or you know one, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need on-camera experience, you don’t even need to be comfortable on camera! You just need to be open to sharing what your life actually looks like. No script, no lines; it’s all filmed documentary style.

The quick details

  • Filming: June 17, 18, and/or 19
  • Compensation: $500 per family, paid by production — separate from your SNAP / CalFresh benefits and won’t affect them
  • Location: San Francisco Bay Area

If this speaks to you — or someone you know

Here’s the intake form: https://form.jotform.com/261393852582061

Pass it along, share it in your group chat, forward it to the parents in your circle. The goal is to make sure these stories get told by the families actually living them.
