san francisco mom wearing a Kut from Kloth Moto Jacket
On chilly summer days in SF, we wear pink. Loving my new moto jacket from Kut from the Kloth in Rose.

As a stay-at-home mom of two young kids, my wardrobe is very practical. I need tops for nursing baby on the go, comfortable shoes and pants for chasing the littles, and light layers because, you know, it’s SF. My go-to look is tees, jogger pants, and sneakers. And aside from swapping for boots for rainy days, my look stays pretty much the same all year round. But lately, I’ve been thinking it’s time for an upgrade or two. My perfunctory sense of style can leave me feeling a little blah. This is especially the case now that I’m trying to crawl out of baby isolation and ramp back up my social life.

Enter my new Kut From The Kloth® moto jacket, and I am in love. My 4-year-old saw me try it on for the first time, and he lit up. “Mama, you look nice!” he exclaimed. You know you’re in need of a few new pieces when a new article of clothing is an event in your household. The faux suede is lightweight without being bulky but offers enough weight for layering warmth in SF. The blend includes a small percentage of spandex which helps the jacket both hug me and move with me, instead of being stiff. It’s super soft on my skin and to the touch. I chose the light rose hue for subtle color with warmth and femininity that adds a pop of color for summer. The draping and structure of a moto jacket really wakes up my tired outfit. It makes me look like I’m actually trying (even if I’m not!). It transitions perfectly from my playground days to my happy hour nights.

I’m going to be honest and tell you that stay-at-home life after baby makes me look at clothes differently. Instead of putting on what’s cute, I put on what’s clean. I check for milk leakage, toddler snack remnants, playground dirt, etc. But my new jacket is able to add something extra to my standard stay-at-home mom uniform. I feel more put together and more confident. And isn’t that a better way to start the day?

After much deliberation, my husband and I have decided to forgo a summer vacation for a SF staycation. My youngest is at the worst age for travel, in that she constantly wants to crawl everywhere and will shriek at the top of her lungs at whim. So although I’m not packing my bags with new summer dresses or swimsuit coverups, I’m loving the newness that just one jacket can bring to my look. It will accompany me on my foggy days and the few rare warm nights.

If you’re looking to freshen up your wardrobe for the summer, Kut From The Kloth has lots of colorful summery printed tops (including button down and wrap blouses for nursing!). And please try on the moto jacket if you’ve been feeling ho hum! What piece in your wardrobe totally transform your outfit?
