Love, Hearts, and Valentine’s Day Crafts

Here are some fun Valentine’s Day themed crafts to get ready for tomorrow! Making Love Bugs and Hearts will surely be a big hit with the kids.

Love Bug Footprint 

Supplies:

  • Black & red paint
  • White construction paper
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Black sharpie

Directions:

  1. Start by painting your child’s foot with the red paint, beginning at their toes and painting just until the heel.  Then use the black paint for the heel of the foot, which will be the head of the Love Bug.
  2. Press your little one’s foot on the construction paper. 
  3. Glue on the two googly eyes and wait for your bug to dry.
  4. Once dry, use a black marker to draw hearts or polka dots on the red body of your bug.  Draw arms on either side on the body and two black antennas on the top of the head.

Love Bug Toilet Paper Roll 

Supplies:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Googly eyes
  • Craft glue
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Various art supplies: glitter, crayons, beads, construction paper, scissors, paint, markers, pom-poms

Directions:

  1. Go ahead and paint your toilet paper roll any color you would like.
  2. While it is drying you can start cutting out and decorating the heart shaped wings, antennas, and pipe cleaners legs.
  3. Once the toilet paper roll body is dry, get to decorating.  Make a face with the googly eyes, draw a mouth, glue on a nose, glue on the pipe cleaners, wings, etc.  
  4. When you are finished, put them in your window or room and show your Love Bug off to the whole family.

Blotto Art Hearts 

Supplies:

  • Pink, purple or red paint
  • White and various colors of construction paper
  • Glue

Directions:

  1. Put some paint in the middle of your white construction paper and then fold the paper in half.
  2. Once the paper is folded, use your hands to smooth out the paper and help spread out the paint.
  3. Open your paper back up, let it dry, and cut it out in the shape of a heart!
  4. Glue your heart on a larger heart cutout.  

Heart Shaped Headband

 

Supplies:

  • White paper plates
  • Pink or red paint
  • Various art supplies: glitter, crayons, beads, construction paper, scissors, paint, markers, pom-poms

Directions:

  1. Take you paper plate and fold it in half. In the middle of the folded edge draw a half heart, like shown, and then cut around it leaving just the edge of the paper plate.
  1. Paint your heart headband and let it dry.  
  2. Once dry, decorate your headband all over with whatever craft supplies you want. Then, try on your finished piece and wear at your Valentine’s day dinner!

 SFMomsBlogTip – Do the painting projects in the morning and let them dry during lunch and nap.  Then, in the afternoon (3 pm slump time) decorate your projects, and they will surely pass the hour!
