Preschool Update: So Far I’m Just Sleeping

I recently posted about what I plan to do with myself once my daughter starts preschool. I’m a stay at home mom and to sum it up, the article was about all the self-care I planned for myself, after coming slowly out from a season of full-time self-sacrifice. Yoga, novel reading, and quality time with my husband were some of my ideas. Eventually, I probably will use the school hours to write more and maybe get involved with a nonprofit, just not right off the bat. First, I have some catching up to do.

Well, it happened. I filled out the forms, bought a lunch box, and prepared a change of clothes. We talked about it a ton, especially how Mommy will leave and then come back. On the first morning, we walked out the door and down the hill to the little program’s location. I got myself a coffee and trudged back up to my house.

And into my bed. That day I didn’t technically sleep. But I didn’t technically move either. I’m pretty sure several parts of my brain went into local sleep (which is a real thing) and eventually, I felt well rested. A distantly remembered sensation of actually being ready to get up.

The second day I definitely slept. And as it turns out, yoga and brunch are not the primary things I’ve been missing over the past two and a half years. It’s way simpler. I just need to sleep in.
