Learn about There With Care

Founded by Paula DuPre’ Pesmen and inspired by 4 special “wish” children Paula met while working on the set of the Harry Potter movies, There With Care was created to provide thoughtful and fundamental services to families who are struggling with critical illness. They help provide basic day-to-day services to help lift the burden during these difficult times.

“There With Care of the Bay Area provides a wide range of fundamental and meaningful services to families with children facing critical illness. Following a referral from hospital social workers, we connect with the family and identify ways to provide much needed relief.  It may be groceries or a hot meal, gas assistance or transportation to treatments; it may be blankets or diapers, cleaning a home or babysitting siblings; There With Care does whatever it takes to allow parents time to focus on what is most important – their family and child. We currently partner with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, Family House in Mission Bay, and operate a warehouse in nearby Menlo Park. Taking things off their plate and giving families more time to be with their children is at the heart of our work and it happens through the kindness of others who ease their burdens. With the help of our generous community, we are able to be there for the families in ways that reduce the daily stresses that are overwhelming them.”

ALESANDRA’S STORY

Mom, Dad, and 10-year old Timmy welcomed baby Alesandra at 25 weeks.  There With Care had the privilege of helping their family by providing transportation assistance so that brother Timmy could spend time with his sister at the hospital two hours away from home. Timmy loves football and through a kind donation, There With Care was able to provide the family with tickets to a Stanford football game to enjoy some time together. When Alesandra was finally healthy enough to be moved to a hospital closer to home, There With Care provided the family with essential baby care items for Alesandra, and clothing and back to school supplies for Timmy.
