Dads! It’s Mother’s Day, Here’s What to Do…

Mother's Day gifts and flowers

Holidays definitely sneak up on all of us, but Mother’s Day is definitely not one of those that you want to miss!  We moms have a hard job. Between making sure laundry is done, dinner is made, schedules are aligned, and creating time to have fun with our partners and children, it’s amazing we still get out the door somewhat on time to make it to work and school drop off.  So this one special Sunday a year, it’s time to celebrate being a Mom and get a little appreciation from the ones we do it all for and love the most.

Here are some simple ideas to give us AMAZING Moms a little break:

  • Spa Day:  What Mom wouldn’t love a day of pampering? The last time I took the time to go get a manicure or pedicure was…wait still thinking…? Facial, massage, wax, manicure, pedicure.  Moms would love to be able to keep up with all these treatments but that’s never the case. So, if we had a day to any of these beauty refreshers, that would be wonderful.
  • Sunday Funday:  Who doesn’t love a Sunday Funday hoping around the city, beach or park.  Most of the time Moms are always planning the activities, with the kids schedules in mind, packing what’s needed for meals on the go, diapering, or any unforeseen stops. You could plan and pack everything needed for a fun filled family day.  Some great activities are the SF Zoo, Exploratorium, Academy of Sciences, Off The Grid: Presidio Picnic, etc.
  • Meal Prep by Daddy:  One of the things that I sometimes hate the most is thinking up a weekly dinner menu! I spend so much time finding a couple recipes that everyone will like, then making a list of all the ingredients and going to the store (with the kiddo in tow) to grab everything.  Arriving home only to discover that I forgot the ground turkey for the tacos because when I was about to grab it, Crosby spit up all down himself, the cart and the floor.  Then people started looking at me like “umm are you going to clean that up?” So maybe you could think of the weekly dinner menu, make a grocery list, take the kiddos with you to go grocery shopping and be in charge of the dinner prep and cooking for a week!
  • Just Go: Sometimes we just want to be alone in the house! We probably wouldn’t say it that way but we sure do think it.  The thought of a silent house with no routine in sight sounds like heaven. Maybe I’d cross some items off my never ending to do list that have been on there since 2015, or maybe I’ll just sit on the couch with a latte (better yet some wine) and try to make a dent in the stacks of unread “Real Simple” and “US Weekly” magazines or just watch all my guilty pleasure Bravo TV and actually get through a whole episode!
  • If All Else Fails: Just come home with flowers, wine, chocolate and a card saying that you love us and appreciate ALL that we do for the family everyday!

Being a Mom is the best job in the world! But who wouldn’t love a day off, at least for a couple hours. Trust me, we probably already know what we are doing for you for Father’s Day, so please try and make our Mother’s Day as great as we are!
