week in review

And just like that, it’s March! After an unsuccessful skiing adventure with our three- and four-year-olds last weekend, I’m looking forward to laying low, staying local, and watching the Oscars on Sunday (even though I haven’t seen a single movie nominated for Best Picture). How about you?

Here’s some good stuff I’ve stumbled upon this week and a recap of all the great articles we published here and on our San Francisco site.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Here are 37 of his best quotes in honor of his birthday and Read Across America Day.

If you’ve never seen Mortified, you’re missing out. There are some upcoming shows in SF and San Jose, and the new series on Netflix is the next best thing.

This list of 28 African Americans with ties to the Bay Area has some good surprises on it.

I just got my first pair (okay, two pairs) of Allbirds, and I am OBSESSED.

I read The Hate U Give over the holidays and still find myself thinking about it.

This woman’s account of a yoga class gone wrong went viral last fall, and it still makes me laugh out loud.

In case you missed it. . .

Speaking of laughing out loud, Lorrie’s take on when to tone down the nudity in front of your kids is absolutely hilarious.

Christina shared a very personal  Virtual Book Club selection – a parenting book written by her dad!

reviewd Dr. Rosemary’s Herbal Teas because any healthy food or beverage I can get inside my picky three-year-old is a winner in my book.

A local mom debriefed an all too familiar encounter for women in the workplace – being talked down to by a man.

And up in SF:

Everything you need to know to manage your toddler’s behavior; incredibly helpful tips for easing back into real life after the bliss of vacation; a giant list of things to do in the city this month; a huge SF neighborhood guide full of tips and insights from local moms; reviews of the Oscar-nominated movies you probably didn’t see (because they’re not rated G).

It’s better to know how to learn than to know. – Dr. Seuss
