Hooray for the weekend! Something about making it to the weekend still feels just as exciting to me as it did when I was a kid. Last weekend we went to Mountain Lake Park for the first time and really enjoyed it. We’ve lived in San Francisco for a year now, but checking out new neighborhoods and parks still makes me feel like a tourist in my own city. This weekend we plan to walk to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market (weather permitting) to load up on fruits and veggies for the week. We are also hoping to grab brunch at ‘Aina on Sunday. If you are looking for a place to unwind and grab a coffee, but have a toddler and stroller in tow, check out the new cafe Noon All Day. We’ve been stopping by to refuel and hang out with friends after our MyGym class, and the huge outdoor seating area is the perfect place for little ones to run around while mamas sip (gulp) their coffee.
I’m not the parent of a teenager yet, but this post On Parenting Teens made me smile. I was a middle school teacher before my son was born, which taught me a lot about how silly, smelly, hormonal, insightful and curious teenagers can be.
I’m always intrigued by sheet pan meals, but skeptical that the ingredients will cook at the same pace and the flavors will meld as promised. I made this Chicken Souvlaki and Potatoes this week and it was a hit! I was so glad there were leftovers so I could enjoy it the next day for lunch. I can confidently say that this is a sheet pan recipe that does not disappoint!
After our little guy tucked is in for the night, my husband and I have been excitedly snuggling up to watch Babylon Berlin, a new drama on Netflix. NPR describes the show perfectly: “Babylon Berlin explores the Weimar era’s raging nightlife, flourishing cabaret scene, and brutal criminal underbelly.” I always get hooked on period dramas set in the 1920’s (any Boardwalk Empire fans out there?), and this show is no exception.
