Friday Faves & Finds (4.13.18)

week in reviewIt’s Friday the 13th! Are you superstitious? I’m typically not, but this day always gives me the creeps, probably because I hate horror movies, and it makes me think of the Freddy Kruger movies I was forced to watch at sleepovers when I was a kid. Let’s talk about more pleasant things, shall we?

I’ve been wearing my new Phenomenal Woman t-shirt all week.

I also started reading The Daughter’s Walk: A Novel by Jane Kirkpatrick. It’s based on the true, turn of the century story of a mother and daughter who walked all the way from Washington to New York City. Can you even imagine?

It reminded me of a nonfiction book I read many years ago, A Short History of Women by Kate Walbert. Talk about feeling inspired by the American women who came before us.

One of my favorite ladies, my mama, is visiting with my dad this weekend. We have plans to check out Williams Selyem winery with my pal Randi from Wine Country Moms Blog. Cheers!

In case you missed it. . .

Meredith listed some wonderful Earth Day events taking place between now and April 22.

explained why I don’t always make my daughter say please and thank you.

Lorrie dishes on the funny ways being a mom has made her feel strange and unexpected things.

We had a guest post with tips for safer summer travel.

And up in SF . . .

An interview with the founder of Moms Can Code; how to make an adorable firetruck; dates of the upcoming open house week at Bright Horizons early education centers; translation of online mommy lingothree typical behaviors of women when trying on clothes; giveaway of four tickets to Paw Patrol Live! Enter before 9 pm tonight; activities and events put on by Our Family Coalition to support LGBTQ families.
