Tax Day and Taxing?! The Mom Group

April 15 is Tax Day.

A day that can feel a little… taxing.

But beyond filing returns and organizing receipts, it’s also a good moment to reflect on something many parents experience: the dynamics of mom groups.

Lately, celebrity headlines have been full of stories about the drama that can unfold in parent circles with competitive energy, misunderstandings, and the pressure to appear like everything is perfectly balanced. Parenting is already a big job; the last thing families need is extra stress from comparison or competition.

At It’s Yoga Kids, we like to think of our community as a different kind of mom group.

Yoga moms and caregivers of all kinds tend to gather with a shared intention: support, not stress. Instead of comparing schedules, we share breathing space. Instead of competing, we encourage. Yoga reminds us that every family’s journey is unique, and every child grows at their own pace.

In our classes, you might see parents chatting while kids practice Tree Pose, laughing during a wobbly balance, or taking a quiet breath together at the end of class. These simple moments create something powerful: a community built on mindfulness, kindness, and connection.

This Tax Day, while you check off your financial to-do list, consider giving yourself a different kind of return: time to breathe, move, and connect with a supportive community.

When we feel steady and supported, our kids pick up on that energy too. It’s one of those quiet truths of motherhood that carries us through the whole year. And honestly, some of the strongest mom friendships I know started in IYK® classes — the kind that last through playdates, school years, and even all the way into the college drop‑off years.
