5 Things to Check Out with Kids on Treasure Island

    Treasure Island San Francisco

Treasure Island has a fun sounding name that will intrigue your kids, but what is there to do on the island between San Francisco and Oakland with kids? The killer views of SF play a backdrop to all of the activities below.

    TreasureFest

TreasureFest curates local talent in a celebration of art, food, and makers. Show your kids the passion and talent of participating vendors while shopping their unique wares. Have the kids play lawn games while you eat from the round-up of food trucks. TreasureFest occurs monthly on the last weekend of the month February thru November 2019. The next event is this weekend on Saturday, August 24th, and Sunday, August 25th. Online Early Bird tickets are $3 or $7 at the gate (children under 12 free).

    Mersea

This cool restaurant was built inside shipping containers if you and your children have a fascination with the container ships we see in the Bay. Outside, they have a bocce ball court and a mini putting green. For after-meal treats, they have soft-serve sundaes and a giant chocolate chip cookie on the menu. Yum.

    Treasure Island Museum

The museum is under development but offers interim exhibits in the lobby of their new building. Learning about the island will help add some context and richness to your family’s day of fun.

    Playgrounds

Who knew Treasure Island has two playgrounds? It’s always fun to find more SF playgrounds to explore. Add a stop at one or both to your Treasure Island itinerary.

    Book Mobile

The San Francisco Public Library Bookmobile makes scheduled visits to Treasure Island to offer library services to children in the neighborhood. This is a great visit for transportation and book-loving kids alike.

    1. Thanks for the tips! Have lived in San Francisco for a year and finally made the trip to Treasure Island after reading about these things to do. We really enjoyed Mersea and the kids had fun at the park across the street. Great views of the city of course, and we saw multiple cargo ships sail by.

Would definitely recommend heading over, ignoring the construction and enjoying what’s there!
