“You cannot pour from an empty cup — and your children are watching how you fill yours.”
Happy Mother’s Day to every woman who shows up in tenderness, in strength, in healing, and with love. Motherhood is not one thing. It is living, evolving, courageous care. This year, I want to celebrate you by talking about something we don’t say enough:
Taking care of yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do for your children.
Research tells us something remarkable: the simple act of talking with your child in a real, back-and-forth conversation is one of the most important things you can do for their developing brain. We process and respond to real conversation in about 200 milliseconds. That responsiveness, that connection, is a gift no screen can replicate. In fact, studies show parents speak less to their babies when scrolling on smartphones, even though early conversation is directly tied to brain development.
Here’s the thing — you can only show up fully present when you feel grounded. That’s where yoga comes in. At It’s Yoga Kids®, we always say: Stay Strong. Be Calm. Those aren’t just words for children — they’re a practice for every one of us. When you do yoga alongside your kids, something beautiful happens:
You get stronger. Physical strength and flexibility build confidence in you and in your child, watching you.
You get calmer. Breath work and mindfulness lower stress hormones so you can respond, not just react.
You model it. Children learn from watching. When they see you practice, they learn that wellness is a priority.
You connect. Shared movement creates shared joy, and joyful moments are the seeds of lifelong closeness.
A reset is not a failure — it’s a return
Maybe this season of motherhood feels hard. Maybe you’re in a chapter of change, grief, growth, or all three at once. I want you to hear this: a reset is not a failure. It is a return to you.
Choose alignment through daily rhythm, one mindful movement, 10–15 minutes of breath and stillness, and a moment of gratitude. These aren’t luxuries. They are the tools that make everything else possible.
And surround yourself with community. Women rise best when we rise together. Matriarchy is what happens when we honor each other, shine the light on one another, and refuse to let any woman carry her challenges alone.
Your Mother’s Day gift to your child
Roll out a mat. Take a breath. Move together. Show your child what it looks like to be strong, calm, and present. That is a gift that lasts a lifetime from cradle to college and beyond.
Here’s to every mama out there doing the beautiful, hard, joyful work of raising the next generation. You are enough. And you are so deeply appreciated.
